Formula Q – Capability is the binding guideline for assessing the quality capability of suppliers and sub-suppliers to the Volkswagen Group for all products and materials that remain in the vehicle. The aim is to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the entire supply chain. The requirements apply across the Group, are part of the enquiry and quotation process, and must be implemented by suppliers within their supply chain.

The seminar provides practical knowledge on the requirements of Formula Q – Capability. Participants learn how to assess the quality capability of suppliers throughout the entire product life cycle and how to reliably carry out and evaluate potential, process, product and system audits in accordance with VW specifications.

Seminar contents

  • General regulations: Fundamentals, purpose and objective of Formula Q, responsibilities in the QM system, handling audit results, remote/hybrid audits, methods in the product life cycle
  • Customer expectations: Requirements from the customer's perspective and recourse management
  • Supplier self-audit (SSA): Qualification of auditors, conducting and evaluating self-audits
  • Product audit: Error classification, decision-making processes, reporting obligations and self-disclosures
  • Potential analysis (POT): Objective, procedure, questionnaire, evaluation, report and action plan
  • Process audit (VA): implementation in series production, evaluation system and upgrading
  • Technical revision of suppliers (TRL): triggers, registration, implementation and evaluation
  • Subcontractor audit (UL): objective, purpose and procedure of audits at subcontractors
  • Problem analysis (PA): root cause analysis, procedure, implementation and follow-up of measures
  • Application audit (AR): Approval process, registration, procedure and evaluation of the application test
  • Documentation and evaluation: Creation of reports and action plans, application of the traffic light system (green/yellow/red), escalation procedure
  • Appendix: Abbreviations and definitions of terms

Target group

Quality and process managers, Q managers, auditors, project managers and supplier managers who are involved in VW assessments or audit preparations.

Requirements

Knowledge of Formula Q Konkret or comparable experience in the automotive QM system.
